What is there to do in Ulaanbaatar? It’s the question I asked myself when United announced their new non-stop route from NRT-UBN. It’s such a unique route for an American carrier; it’s a 5th freedom flight, meaning the route doesn’t touch down in tue airline’s home country. It’s also a place that hadn’t previously been on my radar, but suddenly was. So I started researching. People thought I was crazy for going to Mongolia with my toddler. Sure, it’s quite far from DC, it’s not a place Americans typically visit, and I didn’t know anyone there. But why would those be reasons not to visit a place to mythical, so beautiful, and so vastly different from anywhere else in the world?
