Headed to Monaco? Bringing the baby? You’re in luck! I recently visited Monaco for the first time, with baby in tow. We had such a fun time, and it was easy to work in a mix of activities and down time. Here are the best things we did—baby included!
Tour the Prince’s Palace
The Prince’s Palace was such a good thing to do with the baby in a wearable carrier! Not only is it mostly indoors and air conditioned, there are lots of colors and interesting things to see. My daughter took a great nap while we were in here, too, giving me time to really look at and read all about the exhibits. Each ticket comes with an amazing audio guide, which I recommend using. I typically dislike audio guides because they’re often boring and take way too long, but this one was actually perfect!

Pro tip: To avoid crowds, plan to visit before the changing of the guard at 11:55am daily. We walked right in at 11:15am, whereas there was a massive line by the time we left at 12:30!

Hang Out at the Hotel Pool
Okay, this is not Monaco-specific, but it is a great way to spend some down time with your baby. We stayed at the Marriott on the border of Monaco and France, and they had a very nice outdoor pool area. They even came around periodically with fruity popsicles! This was the perfect way to spend an afternoon after a hot summer’s day of touring beautiful Monaco!

Stroll through All the Gardens
For being such a small country, I was very impressed with the number of beautiful gardens all around the country. From Princess Grace’s Rose Garden to her Japanese Garden, and from Monte Carlo’s Jardin la Petite Afrique to the Monaco Exotic Garden, you’ll love stopping to smell the roses. My daughter loved seeing the ducks in one of the ponds, and I always enjoy a stroll through an urban green space. Don’t miss the gardens while you’re there.

Explore the Zoological (Jardin Animalier Rainier III)
When we visited in July 2025, this was actually closed for restoration, but it will be amazing to visit with kids of any age when they finish it! This animal park is just below the Palace, adjacent to the cliff face. It’s a very beautiful and dramatic location. The park is near and dear to the Royal Family, figuratively and geographically. There is a small charge for adults and older kids, but children six and under visit free!

Roam the Old Town
I love a medieval city! Monaco’s old town is your typical, tourism-focused old town, and that’s what makes it fun. It’s adjacent to the Palace, so it’s the perfect place to get a gelato or lunch after a tour. You can also visit the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate (Monaco Cathedral), and enjoy breath-taking views along the walking path on the dramatic cliffside. (Don’t worry, it’s entirely safe!) These are the million dollar views!

Go to Cafe de Paris in Monte Carlo
Coffee and a pastry at the Cafe de Paris Monte Carlo was so fun with my daughter. We walked right in around 9:30am and got a table outside. Plan on this for breakfast or coffee, or maybe lunch one day of your trip. It’s great practice for your baby or small child to be in a nice restaurant, but without the pressure of dinner. I got an iced coffee and a Napoleon pastry (mille-feuille), because I love iced coffee, and the mille-feuille was my husband’s favorite pastry. As a single parent, it’s important to me to work in little reminders of my husband for our daughter in our travels.

Bonus? The Monte Carlo Casino (and Opera House!) is just across the plaza from the Cafe de Paris, so pop in for a look while you’re here, too!
