It’s my favorite thing to do in a new city: Visit the coffee shops. All of them. Or at least as many as possible. Chattanooga has become so cool and trendy, yet remained down-home and small-towny, I knew their coffee shop scene would be worth writing about. So here it is, to help you plan your trip around your caffeination needs: The best coffee shops in Chattanooga, Tennessee!
Goodman Coffee Roasters
This cool spot inside Warehouse Row came recommended by a local, so we had high hopes. My coffee-loving mom, who adores tiramisu, couldn’t pass up the chance to have a tiramisu latte. For me? A mocha with lavender—amazing. If I lived here, I’d absolutely be at this shop as often as possible, writing and sipping on a mocha. It has a trendy-industrial vibe softened with cushy seating and plenty of space to sit around and talk with friends. Classic Southern coffee shop feels here.

Mean Mug Coffee House
Don’t let the name fool you: This is one nice coffee shop! I stopped in after a run and couldn’t pass up the chance to try their lavender coconut latte. It was perfect. They’re also open early, at 6:00am, which is something I appreciate in a coffee shop! If I lived in Chatty, I’d totally be here multiple mornings per week, especially post-run. The baristas were super friendly, and their pastries looked awesome. Definitely worth coming back for.

Rembrandt’s Coffee House
Okay, this one might be my favorite. I love this coffee house’s whole vibe. They have a great outdoor area with lots of greenery, but because it was a hot morning, we decided to sit inside. The indoor seating is very much Rembrandt-themed, and made me feel almost classy (even with an unknown stain from my toddler on my shirt). Their pastry case was overflowing, but the winner for me was the breakfast sandwich. What I really came for, however, was the “Self Portrait,” which is basically their signature coffee milkshake. It was one of the best coffees I’ve ever had!

Culture Coffee
I stumbled upon this coffee shop at Fountain Square, and found myself in need of a cold beverage on a hot day during a long walk. Citrus ginger iced tea sounded perfect, but what I didn’t know I needed was their massive strawberry cake pop! It was the delight of the day. I also adore this place because they sell items from local artists and makers. I love seeing small businesses supporting small businesses.

(Be) Caffeinated
Looking for something on the north side of the river? This industrial-cute coffee shop has great indoor and outdoor seating, plus really delicious coffee, and it’s just a couple of blocks away from Coolidge Park and the Riverfront. I got their signature honey-vanilla latte, and Iris was delighted for her teeny-tiny milk in an espresso cup! We met up with a friend here one afternoon, and I can safely say it was a coffee shop experience I’d repeat.

Trail Town Coffee
Want a little rock climbing with your coffee? I know a place! This fantastic coffee shop is adjacent to a climbing gym, and they might just have the best lavender white mocha around. I absolutely love finding the active things to do wherever I go (I have very fond rock climbing memories from college!), and when I can combine that with coffee, all the better. Iris and I met up here with friends for breakfast burritos, ham and cheese croissants, and egg bites, and it ended up being a great atmosphere to chat and catch up over fun, seasonal coffees.
