Nicknamed “The Hostess City,” Savannah will blow you away with their hospitality everywhere, but especially in their restaurants and cafes. Treylor Park Pizza Party
This place was so fun, and so tasty! I wanted to get pizza on our first night in Savannah, because it was a Friday, and my husband and I always had pizza–his favorite food–on Friday nights. My daughter likes pizza, too (or at least the cheese on pizza), and this unique spot seemed like the best place to get it. We started with the cheesy bread appetizer, which was so much bigger than I was expecting, and rounded out with the pineapple bbq chicken pizza. I could not believe how good the pizzas were! They have really unique flavor combos, truly yummy dishes–pizza and non-pizza–and super fun decor and murals on the walls. We loved this place!

Leopold’s Ice Cream
If you visit Savannah, you’ll need to go to Leopold’s Ice Cream! This much-beloved ice cream parlor has been serving Savannahians and tourists alike for over 100 years. They make all their ice cream (and cookies!) in-house, so you know they’re going to be delicious. They have many flavors to choose from, but we had to try out the peach ice cream. Want something more than “just” ice cream? Get it in a float, between two cookies, in a sundae or banana split, and more! Everyone will find a flavor to love!

Savannah Coffee Roasters
Saturday morning dawns early with my toddler around, so we needed coffee and breakfast plans. A local friend recommended this shop during my trip a few years ago, so I wanted to put it back on my list for this trip with my daughter. She loves a good, buttery croissant and whole milk. Me? I needed more protein than that for sustained energy to wrangle my toddler all day. I chose a blueberry latte (yum!) and the “Egglethorpe” breakfast sandwich. It’s a play on the famous “Oglethorpe” name around Savannah. The unique tastiness? Their onion jam. Wow. It was so good! I love a salty sweet, so that was the perfect complement to the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. I highly recommend their breakfast and coffee!

Henny Penny
What a cute concept! This adorable coffee shop is specifically geared toward moms with small children. They don’t have a lot in the way of substantial food, but it was perfect for a quick lunch for Iris and me. Plus, they have such a fun space for kids! There are painting supplies, books, some toys, and artwork on the wall depicting beloved storybook characters! I don’t plan our travels around toddler activities, but this was 100% worth visiting for a meal, coffee, and some fun!

Chocolat by Adam Turoni
Need a more grown-up snack in Savannah? Step into this sweet little chocolate shop in the heart of the historic city. I’ve never seen so many pretty, unique, perfect chocolates in one place. I picked out a variety for myself, and since it was so hot, I had to eat them all as I walked out the door. A shame.

The Olde Pink House
I love the Olde Pink House. It’s a Savannah classic, but it actually has really amazing food, not just historic ambiance. I like to go out to at least one nice meal with Iris when we travel. We eat early (like, usually around 4:30 or 5:00), so we don’t usually have to worry about disrupting a busy restaurant or any romantic dates. It’s also important for Iris to learn how to behave at a restaurant, and the only way to do that is to do it, right?
It had been a scorchingly hot day, so I wanted something cold. Gazpacho sounded just right, and tasted even better. And how could I go to the South and skip fried green tomatoes? I couldn’t. So I ordered the BLT salad, complete with candied bacon and fried green tomatoes. It was actually kind of amazing. And since all I had was gazpacho and salad, guess who had room for dessert! The chocolate and peanut butter bombe was maybe one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I 100% would eat here again… Even with a toddler!

Local 11Ten
A local friend recommended this place just off of Fosyth Park. It has local right in the name, and they really do use locally-grown produce and products in their menu items! My choice was the zucchini salad for myself, and asked to add shrimp. I thought Iris would like the gnocchi. Both of these entrees were very flavorful, but the real star here was the banana split. Made with banana ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, sprinkles, cookie crumbles, marinated cherries, and, of course, caramelized bananas, this was a really fun treat! Iris ate more whipped cream than gnocchi, if you can believe it.

Franklin’s
Every Savannah coffee shop list I saw included Franklin’s, so I had to see what the fuss was about. Well, first of all, it’s adorable. I loved the tile work and bar stool seating at the window. The navy and white color scheme is so classic, but they also have convenient grab-and-go food items, a breakfast and lunch menu, and, of course, amazing coffee. Banana pudding latte? I’ll have another, please! Iris, in true toddler fashion, was delighted for her gigantic croissant. Me? I had the most delicious ham and cheese quiche on our last day, just before we needed to check out and head to the airport. I was only sorry we waited until our last day to eat here. I’ll definitely be back on a future Savannah trip!
